Clubs and organizations are a great way to help develop character and the skills that will benefit you in school, your career, and in life. Skills like commitment, leadership, effective communication, and being able to work successfully in a group all come from participating in a club or organization. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and boost your college resume.
Concert Bands:We have two performing concert bands. The Concert Band is geared towards the development of instrument technique, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music reading, and listening skills. The Wind Symphony is an audition-selected ensemble of advanced players who have had at least one year of high school band experience. Both of these performing ensembles give public concerts throughout the year in our auditorium. Both performing ensembles perform for ratings at the Florida Bandmaster Association (FBA) Music Performance Assessment (MPA) in March.
Eurythmics / Colorguard / Winter Guard: As it is listed as “Eurythmics” on course cards, this class is school time rehearsal and preparation for the two-guard seasons. The fall season, Color Guard, is an ensemble that performs with our competitive Marching Knights from August to November. This group adds color, expression, and many effects to our marching band. The winter/spring season is our highly competitive Winter Guard ensemble.After-school practices are required to participate in these ensembles.Participation in the marching band’s Color Guard or Winter Guard is required to be a part of this class.Class assignments and grades are based on games, performances, rehearsals, and competitions. On the reverse side, in order to be a part of either of these ensembles, you must be a part of the class, as attending after-school rehearsals is not enough.
Percussion Ensemble (Instrumental Tech):The world of percussion is explored in this class. From playing in a drumline to playing in a concert percussion setting, there will be something covered for anyone who likes percussion. This class performs at many of the same concerts that the concert bands perform in, with a minimum of two evening public concerts.
Marching Band: The Marching Knights perform for select football games, compete in local tri-county competitions, and perform at the FBA Marching MPA. With heavy expectations, they will earn the opportunity to compete in St. Petersburg at the state level. The Eurythmics class also performs with the marching band as the Color Guard. Members of this ensemble receive extra class credit for participating in an extra ensemble, extra community service hours for various activities, and receive the experience of a lifetime.
Jazz Band: The jazz band is now a class and is no longer an after-school option. This ensemble provides students with a variety of jazz ensemble experiences. Members of this class will give two evening public concerts, and at least two school-time concerts. The jazz band also performs for ratings at the FBA Jazz Band MPA in February and often performs for the Relay-4-Life survivor’s dinner.

Chorus & Singing Knights
Chorus Director: Mr. Haynes
The Singing Knights meet to make a joyful noise and take our minds away from other daily issues that may be burdensome or overbearing. We work together as a team to create 2, 3, and 4-part harmonies and learn choral reading fundamentals like Solfege, Sight-Singing, and Rhythm Sight-Singing.
The Singing Knights practice and perform choral works ranging from classical to pop. The most desired take-away from this ensemble that students learn the biggest enjoyment comes from doing something well that they have spent time working on. Doing that with friends and teammates takes it to the next level.
Monarch Chorale
Chorale is the advanced choral ensemble on Monarch's campus. This ensemble strives to explore music of various cultures and genres throughout time periods. We focus on how to be young professionals in rehearsals, performances, and classes. It is an expectation that members of Chorale explore opportunities to perform music with others on and off campus.
